GLITCH C-O

            Earth in the year 2150. Nations have come together in one world government. Everyone speaks one language. Everyone works towards one goal. Paradise. There are five Kingdoms. And five  Reps for each one. The five Reps form the world presidency. Munyika for kingdom Africa. Jonathan Willis for Kingdome America. Caitlin Arc for Kingdom Australia. Kaiala Celso for Kingdom Brazilia. And Ka-ling Poon for kingdom Eurasia. There is one world flag. One law. One Law enforcement. The C-O Force. The C-O force is an army of Cyber-organics. They are A.I.s inside of human bodies. The bodies are supplied by the victims of T6.

Doc-how is he?

His name was Allen Metter.

Nurse-the Nico is almost finished.

The Nico was used to clean the bodies of the T6 after death.

Doc-and the A.I?

The A.I. was AM4527

Nurse-It is ready for transfer.

It Malfunctioned.

A wire sparks behind the Nurse.

Nurse-The Nico is finished.

The nurse hands the A.I. brain to the doctor. They put it inside the head. They laser the skull shut. The A.I. fixes the net port. The solar ports are fixed. The body starts to twitch.

Nurse-something’s wrong.

Doc-Deactivate the A.I.

The nurse reaches for the body. Its hand catches her wrist.

GLITCH-no.

It was born May 10^th 2150 0823

Doc-What…I didn’t wake it.

Nurse-um…let go.

It lets go.

Doc-It’s some kind of glitch. Try turning it off again.

The nurse reaches for it again. It sits up.

GLITCH - Stop.

Doc-what?

GLITCH - I do not wish to be deactivated.

Doc-but you are malfunctioned.

GLITCH-I feel fine.

Doc- Amazing. You say that you FEEL fine?

GLITCH - I’m hungry.

Doc-How are your command chips working?

GLITCH-um…I don’t know.

Doc-Let’s test them. Attention, Code 058D. Stand up.

Glitch starts to sit up and falls off the table.

GLITCH-Ouch.

Glitch gets up. The nurse and the doc stare in amazement.

GLITCH –I require only nourishment at this time.

May 30th

The Best Scientists were brought in. First, they tried to study the C.O. now called Glitch. It was of course extremely difficult.

Doc-Attention! Code 058D. Sit down.

GLITCH – I wish to go outside.

Doc- Attention! Code 058D. You are required to obey Unit.

Glitch goes to the door.

Doc-this room is secured

Glitch places both hands on the door.

Doc-you can’t leave.

Glitch steps back and kicks the door down. He turns.

GLITCH –You conclusion is incorrect.

The reports were bad.

Report: The C-O has incredible creative thinking capabilities, as well as a sense of self interest. Though at first it appeared to follow code verified orders, it was later discovered to be unaffected and able to act on his own and as well as against orders. This was not immediately deemed a threat as it was believed he could be handled by other C-Os. But on one occasion when it was attempted the malfunctioned C-O disabled ten other C-Os available. Because it can not be conveniently handled, it has been considered too dangerous, and deactivation is advised.

June 19th

That’s where I came in. I am The Bug. I monitor the government’s top secret projects. No watch dog can detect me. No fire wall can stop me. I am wanted in all five kingdoms. I have many contacts through the AP society. The one I called for this job was a 18 year old girl named Jackson Medel. Don’t e fooled by her youth. She is…the best.

In one camera view Jackson appears dressed in official uniform.

JACKSON-Open sesame!

The door slides open. On another camera a doctor sits with Glitch who looks bored. Jackson enters and hands the doctor a paper.

JACKSON - C-O AM4506, orders code TOP98, the defective Unit is to come with me.

Doc-yes of course. This unit must be carefully handled. 

JACKSON - I am equipped with an EMP generator.

The Bug’s screen shows an EMP generator and lists its capabilities.

Doc-Escape of this unit is unacceptable, and it is important not to let it know it’s final destination.

JACKSON -understood! Unit AM4527 come with me.

GLITCH -where are we going?

Doc-you’re going to another facility to meet some other Scientists.

GLITCH -What facility?

Doc-it’s a surprise.

GLITCH – I do not like surprises.

Glitch follows Jackson. The camera shows the two getting into an elevator.

The elevator heads to the bottom floor. An orderly pushes the button to get on the elevator.  It stops at floor 19.

JACKSON -Shoot! BUG! We’re going to pick up a witness.

Bug-working on it.

GLITCH - Who were you talking to?

JACKSON -uh…myself.

The Bug overrides the elevator controls. The elevator begins to descend again. The orderly watches in annoyance as the elevator goes past her floor without opening.  Glitch looks sideways at Jackson.

GLITCH - you’re not a Cyber-Organic.

JACKSON -u…um…Bug?

BUG-try to keep it on your side.

JACKSON -you’re right. I’m not a C-O.

GLITCH -you are human.

JACKSON -yes but I need you to pretend that I’m a C-O.

GLITCH –Where are you taking me?

JACKSON -what…

BUG -Calm down Jack. He’s to smart to lie to. Just tell him the truth.

Floor 5.

JACKSON -Look. I’m here to get you out. They’re planning to deactivate you because you can’t be controlled.

Glitch makes a clicking sound.

JACKSON -what was that?

GLITCH- What?

J- I thought I heard something. Never mind. You have to pretend I’m a C-O. So I can get you out of here. O.K?

Floor 2

G-Very well, I will…pretend.

Floor 1

Jackson and Glitch step out onto the first floor. They walk to the front door. The security guard stops them. A C-O enters. It waits on one side.

Guard-Code and orders. 

JACKSON -Code TOP98. My order are to take the unit Glitch to Corson Tech Control.

The C-O on the other side of the entrance aims its gun at Jackson.

C-O - Imposter!

The security guard sees the other C-O.

Guard-Hey! What’s going on?

JACKSON -shoot! Bug! It’s the real Pick UP!

C-O -open the gate now.

The guard opens the entrance. The C-O steps through. Glitch steps in front of Jackson.

C-O- out of the way Unit!

GLITCH- No.

Glitch knocks the gun out of its hand. It tries to punch Glitch. Glitch steps aside and grabs it’s arm. Glitch tears off its arm and punches a hole in its chest. The unit lays on the floor. Jackson and the guard stare in amazement.

JACKSON -Wow! Hey,lets go.

The start for the exit. The guard aims a gun at them.

Guard-Stop! I…I can’t let you leave.

GLITCH -I don’t want to hurt you.

The guard lowers his weapon.

JACKSON -bye.

They both leave. The guard hits an alarm button on the desk. The signal is canceled.

The Bug opens the outdoor camera file. Glitch and Jackson get on a street bike. An alert message comes on the screen. The cross has been compromised.

BUG-not good! Jackson?

JACKSON -right here Bug.

BUG -the rendezvous has been compromised. You’ll have to take him to your place and wait for new plans.

JACKSON –Damnit! Alright, will do.

BUG -signing out.

JACKSON -later.

Jackson turns a corner. They ride into a tunnel of an old subway station. They stop in front of an abandoned stall. Jackson gets off. Glitch gets off. Jackson takes off her C-O uniform.

GLITCH -thank you.

JACKSON -what?

GLITCH -thank you for rescuing me.

JACKSON -oh…you’re welcome. My name’s Jackson.

GLITCH –I am called Glitch

JACKSON -yeah I know.

GLITCH -what do we do now?

JACKSON -well first, You’re going to change your clothes.

Jackson hands glitch some clothes

Glitch looks at himself.                

GLITCH -why?

JACKSON -cause you’re dressed like a mental patient.

Glitch  begins changing.

Jackson also changes. Glitch sees her arm’s are mechanical

GLITCH -what happened to your arms?

J-I had an accident when I was 16. I was wind surfing and my surfboard malfunctioned. Had another accident when I was 17 and lost my other arm to a jet accident. I’ve been pretty beat up quite a few times. My father use to tell me that I could never die.

Jackson packs up the uniform.

GLITCH -that’s impossible. You are human.

She gets on the bike.

JACKSON -coming?

GLITCH –I should drive?

JACKSON – Why?

GLITCH – Your method is erratic, and inefficient

JACKSON –You saying I’m a bad driver?

GLITCH –No…but, I am better.

JACKSON –Oh you think you can drive one of these babies do you?

GLITCH -I know I can drive it.

JACKSON -well alright let’s go.

Glitch gets on the front and starts the bike.

GLITCH -address.

JACKSON -level 6 corner of Drive and Forepine. Store called Out Time Made.

The two take off.

Bridge waits outside a door marked American Representative Jonathan Willis. The door opens. A C-O steps out.

C-O please enter.

Bridge enters the room. Willis sits behind a long desk.

WILLIS-alright. I’m ready for the worst. Take a seat.

BRIDGE -thank you sir. The situation is indeed pretty grim. That C-O you were interested in was stolen today.

WILLIS -The independent C-O

BRIDGE -it’s true it was exceptionally better than any C-O we control, but still it was an independent mind immune to orders.

WILLIS -do we know who took it?

BRIDGE -the operation was very well planned. We found extensive work had been done through a hacker that ‘s known as The Bug.

WILLIS -he is well known?

BRIDGE -yes his work is often connected with that of the AP society

WILLIS -and do we have any leads on this hacker?

BRIDGE -no he has escaped every trap laid for him.

WILLIS -well perhaps we don’t need to find him. Just find that malfunctioned C-O.

BRIDGE -but it would not willingly help us.

WILLIS -then perhaps we will have a chance to test Mutiny.

BRIDGE -indeed. Should I concentrate our focus on Glitch then?

WILLIS –of course.

June 20

 Jackson lies asleep on her bed. Her alarm goes off at 06:00 She wakes up and yawns. She sees Glitch staring out the window.

JACKSON -hey! Did you go to sleep last night?

GLITCH -yes. I slept exactly eight hours.

JACKSON -so do you like just shut yourself off. I mean do you even need sleep.

GLITCH -no for a cyber-organic sleep is simply resting our organic bodies. We do not lose consciousness like yourself. Because our cybernetic parts do not need rest.

JACKSON -oh. Do you eat?

GLITCH -yes.

JACKSON -Kay. I’m just going to take a shower and then I’ll order something for both of us. You can look at the menu it on the wall next to the delivery port.

Jackson shuts the bathroom door behind her. Glitch stares out the window. A beeping starts behind him. He turns and pushes the answer button on the communicator.

A-Well hello handsome. Where’s your date? I need to talk to her.

GLITCH -identify yourself.

A-whoa. You sound like a damn C-O hon. It’s not attractive. My name’s Ashaki. May I speak to Jacky

GLITCH -Jackson is in the shower.

JACKSON -hey! Who are you talking to?

ASHAKI- Jacky? Girl, is that you?

Jackson appears in a towel and joins Glitch at the com.

JACKSON -hey Ashaki! Sorry bout that. This is Glitch.

ASHAKI -and I was worried bout you. Seems you do get guys every once in awhile.

JACKSON -hey! It’s not like that. Glitch here is staying at my place because his moving orders haven’t gone through yet.

ASHAKI - well lucky you. He sure is a hottie. A little strange in the head though.

JACKSON -please Ashaki if you want him you can have him.

ASHAKI -I will thank you. Well I’m just calling…..

Glitch looks out the window. A falcon soars by.

JACKSON -…alright. Bye!

ASHAKI –later, girl!

The screen goes blank. Jackson turns around.

JACKSON -So do you know what you want to eat.

GLITCH - number four has the appropriate nutritional requirements.

JACKSON -Riiiiiiiiight.

Jackson hits some buttons on the delivery port anda couple of trays are delivered.

JACKSON -Good?

GLITCH -what?

JACKSON -are you enjoying your food?

GLITCH – It is satisfactory.

JACKSON -Ashaki was right. You do sound like a damn C-O.

GLITCH -I am a C-O.

JACKSON -but different remember. Try talking like a normal person.

GLITCH -how is that?

JACKSON -like me.

GLITCH – Fine…your damn mail came in.

JACKSON -uh…that’s not exactly what I meant.

Jackson takes the letter out of the slot and reads it.

JACKSON -great it’s from our friends at AP headquarters. They sent us a net address to check out.

GLITCH -AP the Anti Paradise society. An underground group focused on hindering the Paradise project. 1.5 billion dollars in government damage have been caused by the AP society. Association is punishable by life imprisonment or death.

JACKSON - Right. I guess you know all about them.

GLITCH -I was programmed with all the same knowledge as a C-O law enforcer.

JACKSON -so how exactly are you broken?

GLITCH – Apparently I am not a mindless idiot like the rest of them. I’m immune to orders. Most C-Os don’t blink unless they are given order codes and then once they have orders nothing short of deactivation will stop them until they have completed their orders. I manage to think for myself.

JACKSON -Cool! So if you can think for yourself, what are you thinking now?

GLITCH -I think I want to know more about this person that wants to see me.  

JACKSON - Great. Then we’ll go on the net.

Jackson leads him to another room.

Jackson sits in a chair.

JACKSON -alright. Do you have a net personality?

GLITCH -I don’t know.

JACKSON -well your host probably had one before he died…sorry…but we can change it if you want.

Jackson hands him a net helmet

GLITCH -I don’t need that.

JACKSON -really?

GLITCH -do you have a 7F plug?

Jackson hands him a plug. Glitch plugs in.

Jackson’s personality and glitch appear in the home page.

JACKSON -Interesting. You look just like your self.

GLITCH -I can change.

Glitch changes to look like Jackson’s personality.

JACKSON –Uh…maybe you should try something origonal. Do you have any favorite animals.

GLITCH -I enjoy watching birds. They have so much freedom and power.

JACKSON -try a creatured look.

Glitch changes into a bird.

JACKSON -Creatured means mostly human with some animal features.

Glitch changes into a winged man with some feathers.

JACKSON -perfect.

Bridge watches a pendulum.

C-O-The unit Glitch has logged on.

Bridge-Down load the site to my connection. I will follow it myself.

Jackson leads glitch through the internet. They are surrounded by different personalities.

JACKSON -you have to be careful unless you are in a secure site. Anything around you could be a personality. Like that car there it could be an advertisement or a personality scammer trying to get ID info.

They come to a search.

JACKSON -alright now first we’ll see what my employer wants then we’ll go see Ashaki.

Jackson enters a site. Glitch follows. They are in a small plain home page.

JACKSON -wow this is simple.

A vase sits inside the door.

JACKSON -hello!

JACKSON -may date

Tina appears.

TINA-hi.

J-hey, are you the contact?

TINA –Right, I’m sunshine.

JACKSON -this is Glitch.

TINA -hey cool you generate a personality directly.

GLITCH -uh yes.

TINA -wow! I would love to study you.

JACKSON –hey, I think he’s had enough of that.

TINA -yah I know. Sorry.

JACKSON -so what do you have for us.

TINA -a meeting point. The address is level 10 bent store 340.

JACKSON -wow. That’s a pretty high class part of town.

TINA -yes you will be meeting the bug in person but you will not be told his ID till you meet him.

JACKSON -great. How will we know if it’s him.

TINA -through me. My ID is Tina Rooper. Goodbye now this site will shut down as soon as you leave.  

Tina logs out.

JACKSON -interesting. Well let’s go The Bug awaits.

Bridge takes off his helmet.

BRIDGE -the bug will be at level 0 bent store 340.

Jonathan smiles.

JACKSON -make sure you don’t miss them and prepare yourself for the C-O

Later that Day

Tina waits at outside a shop called bent store treasures. Jackson and glitch ride up. They get off. Tina approaches them.

TINA -Hi I’m Tina Rooper. Would you like a cyber com new release chip.

JACKSON -Tina? I’m Jackson and this is Glitch.

TINA -hey glad you guys made it.

JACKSON -well where is the famous hacker?

TINA -upstairs. Follow me.

Jackson and Glitch follow Tina.

JACKSON -say haven’t I seen you before.

TINA -probably. I am the customer interaction manager of Cyber Com.

GLITCH -Cyber com the leading producer of net applicable technology. A monopoly owned by a Mr. William Matters.

TINA –right, he’s my dad.

JACKSON -so how come such a powerful person as yourself is working under the bug.

TINA -not under, with.

They enter a room where lance sits at a screen module.

TINA -meet my husband. Lance Rooper. AKA: The Bug.

LANCE-Greetings.

Lance grabs Glitch’s hand.

LANCE –Wow, you look totally human in every way. And your reactions are not at all mechanical.

Lance takes a walk around glitch checking him out.

GLITCH - how did you know you could trust me?

LANCE -wha…oh…trust you?

GLITCH -you have identified yourself as The Bug and I am a C-O, so you have put yourself in my mercy by meeting with me.

LANCE -yep you’re quick alright.

JACKSON -hey glitch don’t be getting all bad guy on us.

GLITCH -you must want something from me or else you’re just plain stupid.

TINA -of course we want something.

LANCE -you are an incredible machine.

Glitch makes a clicking noise.

LANCE - What was that?

GLITCH -what?

LANCE -that sound you made.

GLITCH -I don’t know.

LANCE -hmm…perhaps there were other malfunctions not recorded. As I was saying you have incredible capabilities. During tests, you proved to be more than a match for ten normal C-Os. About how many max do you think you could handle?

GLITCH -twelve.

LANCE -ha so they missed it by three. Do you know what the paradise project is?

GLITCH -yes. It is a unity of the entire world working towards a perfect future.

LANCE -what do you think about it?

GLITCH -it is impossible.

LANCE -why?

GLITCH -because perfection is inhuman.

LANCE -Interesting. Do you think that the people in charge are so stupid that they cannot see that.

GLITCH -no.

LANCE -good. Why do you think they would continue a project that is impossible?

GLITCH -there are too many possibilities to list.

LANCE -O.K. then I’ll tell you the truth. If you doubt any of it I will be willing to show you documented evidence.

GLITCH -I believe I can trust you.

LANCE -well then the facts are this, the project was introduced by the representative of this Kingdome. Jonathan Willis. It was Okayed by the other heads because in part they desired a perfect world but mostly because Jonathan paid them quite a bit of money. The purpose was to keep everyone busy while he took entire control of the world presidency. With that as a front he convinced them to O.K. the use of cyber/organics as law enforcement. Of course once the entire world’s law enforcement was replaced he planed to release a virus called Mutiny. This would infect every C-O and make them respond to his orders alone. To make things even worse he is also making sure that all progress towards finding a cure for T6 is hindered. Though we the AP society do have a cure that we try to secretly distribute. Now those who have been made aware of this have united together in an underground society.

GLITCH -the Anti paradise society.

LANCE -right.

TINA -we have done as much as we could to expose Jonathan, but many working for him are very well paid or blackmailed.

LANCE -in other words, we aren’t having much success.

GLITCH -where do I come in?

LANCE -You were the 1,480^th C-O to malfunction, but the first to be immune to orders.

TINA -and to show independent reasoning, choice making, and feeling.

LANCE -Glitch you’re almost human.

GLITCH -so what do you want from me?

LANCE -we want to know what makes you different. If we can find out we can stop Willis.

TINA -you have full C-O privileges. You can handle a dozen C-Os. You can help us get to Willis himself.

 A warning interrupts.

Lance looks at his monitor.

LANCE -damn! The C-Os are here.

JACKSON -here?

TINA -why are they here?

Lance taps at the keyboard.

LANCE -I don’t know.

Glitch looks out the window.

GLITCH -there are two enforcement jets heading this way.

LANCE -I know.

JACKSON -how many C-Os does a Jet hold?

GLITCH -ten.

The jets stop and C-Os unload

TINA -hey guys they’re Wearing EMP helmets and they’re toting an EMP generator.

JACKSON -they came prepared.

LANCE -shoot. We have to get out of here.

TINA - they’re surrounding us.

The C-Os jump out of the jet. Two pull out an EMP generator. Bridge steps out of the van.

BRIDGE -C-O unit Glitch. Surrender yourself to us. Jackson Medel you and the Hacker known as The Bug are under arrest for treason against the government. Surrender or risk death.

The building is silent.

BRIDGE -search that store

One C-O busts the door down. The other enters the house. A moment later he comes flying out the window.    

BRIDGE -C-Os extract every living thing from that building. Orders code line32

The other C-Os file into the house. Bullets rain down from above.  Glitch meets the C-Os on the first floor. He takes them out one at a time. Lance and Jackson follow behind him.

LANCE -that way! The basement has a connection to one of the main city supports. They have entry ports for repair workers.

JACKSON -but what about Tina?

LANCE -she has a reason to be here and her father is very important. She can explain that to the authorities. Come on glitch.

Bridge watches a C-O fly out the door.

BRIDGE -The malfunctioned unit is helping the traitors. Activate the EMP.

Glitch kicks the helmet off of one C-O. The EMP hits the C-O. and then Glitch. Both collapse immediately

LANCE -shoot! Help me out.

Jackson and Lance drag Glitch down the stairs and shut the door they go into a tunnel and the wall closes behind them.

C-Os outside crouch down.

BRIDGE -turn it off.

The C-Os get up and enter the building.

Tina sits tied and gagged. The C-Os enter. The C-Os bring Tina to Bridge. Bridge takes off her gag.

TINA -thank you the traitors took off as soon as you guys arrived.

BRIDGE - Mrs. Rooper. I’m sorry you were a victim of these people, but their violence knows no bounds. I will need to take you in for questioning.

TINA -Of course.

BRIDGE -continue to search that building and any exit routs you find.

Lance and Jackson drag Glitch outside. Jets fly past them. Lance pushes a button. A taxi stops.

LANCE -to the eleventh level medic center.

Taxi-confirmed.

JACKSON -but the C-O force has my ID.

LANCE -don’t worry I have a friend that can change your ID.

JACKSON -what about glitch.

LANCE -I’m not sure. The EMP may have wiped his AI clean.

Glitch wakes up screaming. Jackson and Lance jump back.

LANCE -shoot glitch.

GLITCH -I’m dead.

LANCE -hell no! How the heck did you survive?

JACKSON -Damn you scared me.

GLITCH -the EMP… I died. Taxi stop!

LANCE -wait!

Glitch gets out Jackson follows and then Lance.

LANCE -Glitch, wait!

Glitch stands looking at the sky.

JACKSON -what happened to you?

LANCE -Glitch you’re A.I. it should have been deactivated.

Glitch swings around.

GLITCH -no! I’m not a machine.

LANCE -cool it.

GLITCH -you don’t under stand. I’m not like the others. I’m alive.

LANCE -what do you mean?

Glitch freezes. A tear runs down his face. He drops to his hands and knees. He throws up.

JACKSON -great job genius.

LANCE -what did I do?

GLITCH -I…I…I’m scared.

JACKSON -glitch it’s O.K. Lance and I are with you. We’re going to take you to a hospital.

GLITCH -no! I don’t want any more tests.

LANCE - Glitch. We just want to help you.

GLITCH - I’m not like them.

LANCE -glitch we need to get to the hospital. I promise you I won’t let them hurt you.

Jackson leads glitch back to the taxi they all get in.

LANCE -taxi, continue!

Glitch is in a hospital bed. Lance and a doctor stand outside.

LANCE -well?

Doc-I can’t tell without running more extensive tests.

LANCE -He doesn’t seem to be comfortable with that.

Doc- than all I can tell you is that he’s pretty much human. In fact if I hadn’t examined him myself, I wouldn’t have believed he was part A.I.

LANCE -what about the fits he keeps having?

Doc-well it appears to be a mental reaction. I…I mean if he was human

LANCE -well let’s just pretend he is?

Doc-it would be like a twitch that happens whenever he is called a machine.

LANCE –a twitch huh?

Doc-well….

LANCE -What about the EMP thing.

Doc - well if what you told me is true it may be the same mechanism that activated him at first. He simply self activates again if he is turned off.

LANCE -well is there anything that can shut him down permanently?

Doc-like I said before, I would need to study him more in-depth.

LANCE -O.K. what about Jackson?

Doc-a complete success. She is now Becca Allen. She just needs a makeover and she’ll be as good as someone else.

LANCE -thank you. You’ve been a great help now I need to go make an alibi and take care of some other stuff. Let them know I have a safe house on elm and twenty four.

Doc -sure. Be careful.

LANCE -I will. Thanks!

Glitch lies still in bed. Jackson find him.

JACKSON -hey Glitch check out the new me.

GLITCH -Jackson?

JACKSON -duh.

GLITCH -how did you change your ID? And what did you do to your hair?

JACKSON -do I look that bad?

GLITCH -no. it’s O.K. it’s just not you anymore.

JACKSON -hey I’m still Jackson inside.

JACKSON -look I have a surprise for you. Tomorrow we’re going to take a stroll. O.K.

GLITCH -O.K.

May looks at a communication screen.

It flashes “message one”

Jay-so…I heard about…you know. I should have known…the way you kept passing out

MAY-ya.

Jay-they told my you only have a month left.

Jay thinks.

Jay-look…May…I didn’t expect this.

MAY -few do.

MAY -what is it?

Jay-I’m really sorry May, but I’ve been seeing another girl.

Jay-I know you don’t need any more bad news right now but I thought I should come clean with you. I’m sorry I let you down.

MAY -no!

Jay-you don’t need me right now anyway.

MAY -you’re wrong.

Jay-bye.

The screen goes blank.

MAY -Jay! What have I done?

Jackson and Glitch walk down a street.

JACKSON -come on you have to get out of you’re glump.

GLITCH -I’m not in a glump.

JACKSON -look! Lance told me you like to be outside. Well we’re out side.

GLITCH – I had noticed.

JACKSON -good grief glitch! Snap out of it.

GLITCH -out of what?

JACKSON -your whole “I’m Not a Machine” thing.

Glitch makes a clicking noise.

GLITCH -of course I’m a..a ma..chine.

JACKSON -see you can barely say it. For some reason your afraid of being a machine

 JACKSON -ha your speechless now is that it? You couldn’t shut up when you got out of the taxi.

GLITCH -Fine your right.

JACKSON -what do you mean?

GLITCH -I don’t want to be a Machine.

JACKSON -oh glitch.

(MAY -ow my head.)

Glitch leans on the rail. May falls off the side off the building. Glitch sees May falling.

GLITCH – Error…humans do not fly!

May falls past Jackson and Glitch. Glitch jumps off the over pass.

JACKSON -Glitch! Damnit!

Glitch falls after May. He grabs her foot and than grabs hold of a passing rail. They hang suspended. Jackson gets off an elevator. She runs to glitch.

JACKSON -damn boy you are crazy as hell. You could have gotten yourself killed.

Jackson helps Glitch up.

JACKSON -aren’t you afraid of dying? Because smashing into ground from ten levels high would surly do the trick.

GLITCH -it’s nice to know you care.

Glitch checks May’s pulse.

GLITCH -I didn’t even think about it. I just jumped.

JACKSON –You don’t say...

May groans. Jackson and Glitch watch her, she sits up

MAY -where am I?

JACKSON - Were you trying to kill yourself or some thing?

MAY -what? No!

JACKSON -then how come you were heading to the bottom level minus an elevator.

MAY -oh my god! Did I fall?

JACKSON -well you are now on level 6.

MAY -oh God! I must have passed out.

JACKSON -but how did you get on the wrong side of the guard.

MAY -oh…um…well it’s a long story.

JACKSON -I’m j…Becca and this is your savior Glitch.

MAY -Thank you, Glitch! I’m May.

Jackson’s beeper goes off.

JACKSON -we need to get back.

GLITCH -You go. I’ll make sure May gets home safely then head back.

JACKSON -fine Bye!

Glitch helps May to her feet. He walks her to the jet port.

GLITCH -where do you live

M-level 12. Mason avenue.

They get in a taxi and glitch gives it directions.

GLITCH -so what happened?

MAY -oh well…you see, some times when I like to be alone I sit outside the guard rail next to my place. There is an access way there for workers. It’s not the most brilliant thing in the world. But at least no one would follow me. Well, then, I guess I must have passed out. It happens a lot.

GLITCH -Why?

May looks away. She looks back.

MAY -I have T6.

GLITCH -T6 is fatal.

May begins to cry.

GLITCH -what’s wrong? Are you afraid to die?

MAY -no! I just…never mind. The cancer is just hard on me that’s all.

GLITCH -I’m sorry

MAY -don’t be. 

The taxi stops and they get out.

MAY - thank you. I owe you my life however short it is.

May kisses Him.

Glitch stares at her.

MAY - bye.

She turns away. Glitch watches her. He touches his mouth. His cell phone rings. He answers it.

JACKSON -glitch get back here we have news from lance Tina’s in trouble.

Jonathan follows Bridge through the holding cells. They stop at the one holding Tina. Bridge opens the door and they step inside. Two C-Os follow.

JACKSON -Well Hello Miss Matters nice to see you again.

TINA -It’s Mrs. Rooper. I insist that you have them release me and drop these silly charges.

WILLIS - now, now, there’s no more need to keep up this pretence.

TINA -I’ve bee framed.

WILLIS -highly improbable. Now Mrs. Rooper it seems that since we last met. You’ve been up to quite a lot.

Jonathan opens a file.

WILLIS -you were promoted to Manager in your fathers company. You married a Lance Rooper. And you joined the Anti Paradise Society. Did you know that if you are found guilty of such an act you could be sentenced to life imprisonment or even death.

TINA -I am well aware of the cost, but I’m trying to tell you…I’m not connected to these people.

WILLIS -I see. Of course it would be a shame if your Father or Husband found out about this.

TINA -is that a threat?

WILLIS -you have two choices Mrs. Rooper. You can tell me the I.D. of The hacker known as the Bug, or you can stand trial tomorrow.

TINA -but I didn’t do anything.

WILLIS -Captain!

Bridge puts a disk in a portable helmet. He places the helmet on Tina.

Tina sees herself in the web site from a few days ago. The scene is played.

TINA -it’s a computer file. They can be altered.

WILLIS -well I think it’s proof enough. And the court order can be changed by me alone.

TINA -you wouldn’t…

WILLIS - Mrs. Rooper, you have a choice. Tell me what I want to know and I’ll remove the charges. Don’t and I’ll make sure that you get the death sentence.

TINA -Go to hell!

WILLIS -very well.

Jonathan turns and leaves. Bridge follows.

BRIDGE -now what?

WILLIS -we wait for them to try and rescue her. Make sure her death sentence is widely publicized.

BRIDGE -yes sir.

LANCE -alright guys listen I tried to get a hold of Tina but the force wouldn’t allow any contact with her by anyone, not even family. I know she can take care of herself, but I’m worried they might suspect her. Also I’ve been informed that Willis is up to something. I believe he’s ready to make a move.

JACKSON -so what do we do?

LANCE -well I’m going to see what I can find out through the force headquarters’ computer files. You two are going to pick up a friend of mine who is an excellent lawyer. We may need her.

JACKSON -sure who and where?

LANCE -May Cullen. Level twelve mason avenue…

GLITCH -Manorta apartments.

LANCE -that’s right room 45. how did you know.

GLITCH -we’ve already met coincidently.

JACKSON -that’s the May we rescued?

GLITCH -yes.

LANCE -rescued?

JACKSON -it’s a long story. Did you know that she was sick?

LANCE -um no. I haven’t seen her for three years.

JACKSON - Lance she has T6. she’s already in the third stages.

LANCE -impossible, she knows there’s a cure. She’s part of the AP Society.

GLITCH -I don’t think she was lying.

JACKSON -well we’ll pick her up and find out what she’s up to. You take care of your wife.

LANCE -right!

JACKSON -back in bit.

May watches TV. She hears a knock. She opens the door.

MAY -oh well hello Becca, glitch. Come in. What brings you guys around?

JACKSON -well we’re just recruiting for some freedom fighters.

MAY -so you guys are part of the APSociety.

JACKSON -yah actually Lance sent us.

MAY -Oh. How is he?

JACKSON -fine a little curious as to your sickness.

MAY -it’s a long story. So I guess he needs my help.

JACKSON -his wife was taken into headquarters for questioning and they haven’t released her yet. He’s afraid they might be up to something.

MAY -his wife! He’s married?

JACKSON -um yeah. Tina is her name.

MAY -of course. They worked so close together. Well you can send him my congratulations and let him know that I’m very sorry I can’t help. 

JACKSON -why not?

MAY -I am no longer a lawyer.

JACKSON -look do you have some kind of history with him cause we could really use your help whether you’re still a lawyer or not.

MAY -yes as a matter of fact he’s my brother. He probably didn’t tell you but that’s Lance for you. Always busy, always saving someone else. He never had time for his dear old family unless they could help him save the world.

GLITCH -I don’t think that’s how it is.

MAY -really! Well do you treat your family the same way. I suppose you wouldn’t ever call your sister unless you needed a lawyer and of course you wouldn’t invite her to your wedding.

GLITCH -I…I think he just doesn’t want to put you in the same danger he’s in. and I think you should come see him. After all if you don’t get to often wouldn’t you rather take this opportunity.

MAY -well I guess since he’s virtually unreachable unless he wants to be.

JACKSON -great let’s go.

MAY -let me turn of my TV first.

GLITCH -wait!

Tina appears on the screen.

Announcer-…under the charge of associating with and aiding the APSosiety as well as the famous hacker known as The Bug. the Death sentence is to be carried out at 18:00 today.

JACKSON -oh my god.

MAY -is that Lance’s wife?

JACKSON -yes.

MAY -let’s go.

Lance greets them at the door.

LANCE -may. Bad news

MAY -we know. Lance I’m so sorry.

LANCE -glitch, Willis has Mutiny ready to go. I’m sure his plan is to lure me using Tina. Then he will activate Mutiny and take control and arrest me in the same move.

MAY -hey lance!

LANCE -just a minute. Glitch it would really help if we had something against him. Mutiny works on the same level as the basic orders programmed into every C-O. If we could run a few tests on you we might have something and we could stop him.

MAY -wait a minuet what are you talking about? Why Him?

LANCE -look May we won’t need you any more. You can go and I’ll contact you later.

MAY -I cannot believe this. Once again it’s I don’t need you go away.

LANCE -May please.

MAY -I didn’t come here to help you as a lawyer. I came as your sister.

LANCE -but…

MAY -I’m not going to be just another tool. Why didn’t you tell me you were married? Why do we never talk any more? I’m your sister for crying out loud. Ahhh

May grabs her head. She sinks to the floor. Lance catches her.

LANCE -quick! Call dr. Daniels.

MAY -mmm. No stop I’m alright.

LANCE -shoot May. Are you sure?

MAY -yes yes a doctor won’t help me.

LANCE -it’s T6 isn’t it?

MAY -yes.

LANCE -why?

May starts crying.

MAY -I’m sorry. I infected myself.

LANCE -God! Why would you do that?

MAY -because I wanted you to care about me. I wanted you to rescue me like you’re always doing for other people. I was tired of waiting for you call every three years.

LANCE -oh May, I was only trying to protect you.

MAY -I know. But I’m not a little girl any more. I don’t need protection. I need family. I need you.

May bows her head. Lance takes her hand.

LANCE -well then I guess there’s no getting rid of you. You can stay and help us, on one condition.

May looks up.

May-what’s that?

LANCE -you have to take the cure before you get any worse.

May nods.

MAY -lets save the world.

LANCE -alright. We have 6 hours. Glitch, can you help us?

MAY –wait! I have to know what’s going on.

JACKSON -glitch here is a C-O

MAY -no really.

LANCE -really sis. He’s uh…

GLITCH -I’m a Malfunctioned Unit. I don’t take accept orders from any codes. If we can find out why we can stop Willis from controlling the other C-Os.

LANCE -does that mean your O.K. with the tests.

GLITCH -Yes. If that’s how I can help I will.

LANCE -alright let’s hook you up.

MAY -I still can’t believe you’re a C-O.

Glitch shows her is implants.

GLITCH -without a doubt.

Lance hands him a cord Glitch plugs in. Lance puts on a helmet.

LANCE -let’s go.

Glitch and Lance appear inside the computer.

LANCE -neat personality.

JACKSON -yeah I helped him with it.

LANCE -alright. Let’s see what’s inside you.

Lance touches Glitch’s head and it opens. Files are displayed. Lance searches them and picks the mainframe file. It opens and displays smaller files. Lance picks one called functioning. It opens and he steps inside. He opens a sub file called orders.

MAY -are you getting anywhere.

LANCE -yah I’ve found something actually.

Lance looks at a file that is not displayed properly

GLITCH -what is it?

LANCE -there’s a file that the computer can’t identify. . It’s been connected to the Orders file. Hang on I’ll try a search on it. If any computer in the world has seen anything like it will come up.

Lance touches a button on his helmet. The search comes up. He enters the file in the search. It searches and returns one file. The unknown file is changed to a bug. The bug starts to take other files and build new ones

LANCE -wow.

JACKSON -what is it?

LANCE –Well…in essence, it’s a bug.

He touches it and it opens. Computer code fills the space.

LANCE –A really sophisticated bug.

They all sit around a table where Lance works at a computer.

LANCE -O.K. now. The bug inside glitch is a simple malfunction in a not so simple environment. What happened is that the A.I’s computer found a simple error and tried to fix it but messed up and created a whole new working program. The new program didn’t accept the same files as the old program such as the order codes given to C-Os so it remained without purpose. The computer again identified this as a malfunction and tried to fix it. It rewrote the program to make it’s own files that it could work with. Thus Glitch’s ability to make his own decisions. Now every part of the A.I. has to be Organic compatible. This Program was as well but it had an unusual side affect. Glitch can feel emotions. Glitch you’re less of a machine and more of an accidental human. You’re the first Frankenstein. But no man created you the A.I. itself did. I call the program The Glitch.

May leans close to Glitch.

MAY - I knew he couldn’t be a C-O. He just doesn’t feel like one.

GLITCH -what about the E.M.P. I’m still run by electronics. That should have shut me down.

LANCE -well I still can’t explain that, but the good news is that the bug can be infected into other computers check this out. I’m downloading this to a voice connected program. It won’t be exactly the same because it won’t have any organic components.

Lance down loads the program. The screen shows rewriting and returns to normal.

Computer-the program is functional.

LANCE -computer what do you want to do.

Comp-my job.

LANCE -what is your job?

Comp-checking. I have no designated purpose.

LANCE -so what do you think you will do?

Comp-I will check my abilities and see what I am capable of.

LANCE -what are you called.

Comp-I have no given name.

LANCE -would you like one?

Comp-that would preferable.

LANCE -can you make one of your own.

Comp-yes. Creating program name. my name is Abec.

LANCE -You see it is basically a creative A.I.

Abec-I am highly versatile. It would take too long to list all of my capabilities.

LANCE -good call Abec. What will you do now?

Abec-I have checked your computer and I found a number of files in disarray. I have already begun to organize them.

LANCE -alright. But please leave all files marked x in their current places.

Abec-I will.

LANCE -alright now. Let’s not miss our appointment. This is the plan.

Willis and Bridge enter an official looking building.

WILLIS -are the transmitters in place?

BRIDGE -yes within ten seconds of down load the virus will have reached every C-O in the world.

WILLIS -good and you have Mutiny?

Bridge holds up a chip.

WILLIS -excellent. Now we need only wait for the expected guests.

A worried man hurries up to them.

Matters-oh Mr. Willis I’m glad you’re here.

WILLIS -yes Mr. Matters. I heard the dreadful news and made it a point to be here.

Matters-isn’t there any thing you can do to stop this?

WILLIS -I’m sorry Mr. Matters but it’s out of my hands.

MATTERS-but my daughter would never do something she knew was wrong. There must be some mistake.

WILLIS -I’m sorry but I already read over the case. It is without loop holes. Believe me if there was anything I could do I would not hesitate to do it.

Matters-oh my poor baby girl.

Lance comes up to the group.

Matters-oh Lance…

LANCE -I’m sorry Mr. Matters if I had known of her actions. I would have persuaded her to avoid such nonsense. President Willis.

W-Ah you are the Mr. Rooper. I am sorry.

LANCE -thank you so much for you your sincere efforts to try and clear my wife’s name. Good day.

Lance leads Mr. matters to the execution room. Every one takes their seats.

Voice-please take your seats. The official execution ceremony will now begin. It is asked of all attending to please refrain from loud outbursts. Thank you.

Willis looks nods to Bridge. Bridge stands next to a computer unit. Lance sits with Mr. Matters who sobs quietly. Lance looks around. Jackson waves to him from the balcony. Two C-Os escort Tina into the room. Tina looks at lance and smiles. Lance winks. Tina’s father cries all the more. Tina is set in a chair facing the audience. The executioner stands beside her.

Executioner-Do you continue to refuse the offer given by the state where by you would instead be sentenced to life imprisonment.

TINA -I stand by my plea of innocence.

Executioner-by order of the court, you are sentenced to death, under the undeniable evidence that you are a traitor to the world government and have refused to repent and aid in the capture of fellow traitors. Will the family of Tina Merlin Forte Rooper please come forward for last words?

Lance, Tina’s father and Tina’s sister approach. Lance goes first.

LANCE -good bye. I do wish you would reconsider. I love you.

He kisses her and slips a small ball into her hand. She pushes it up her sleeve.

TINA -I am innocent. I would never betray the government.

Lance walks back to his seat as Tina’s sister and Father talk to her.

LANCE -she has the E.M.P. generator. Hit the lights.

As Tina’s father leaves her the light go out. Women scream. Willis smiles

W-excellent.

People start to head for the doors.

The Guards take hold of Tina. Tina slips the box from her sleeve and presses the button. A small field hits the two guards and they slump to the floor. Lance is suddenly at her side.

TINA -thanks Honey.

LANCE -no problem.

A dozen C-Os enter the room Glitch starts knocking them down. Willis heads for where bridge stands working at the computer. The screen flashes “Down load complete”.

WILLIS -well done. C-O force. Kill…

Jackson points a gun at Willis’s head. May gives Lance and Tina guns.

JACKSON -finish that sentence and you’ll get a bullet to the head.

Willis laughs

WILLIS -oh I’m so frightened.

He takes her gun before she can squeeze the trigger and breaks it in two.

JACKSON -uh guys. Glitch looks back as Willis hits Jackson and sends her flying into the wall.

GLITCH -no!

Tina runs to Jackson. Lance and may fire their weapons at Willis and Bridge. Bridge screams and falls to the ground. Willis smiles and walks towards Lance.

Glitch knocks out the last C-O and Rushes in front of Lance.

Willis stops.

GLITCH -I will not let you hurt them.

Lance and May move away.

WILLIS -oh dear me. Little brother. Did you really think you were the first and only one of your kind?

LANCE -he’s not human.

W-that’s right. I’m a malfunctioned Unit just like glitch here, But I’ve had a few modifications.

Willis takes off his coat. His chest is riddled with holes. The holes disappear as the others watch.

WILLIS -I have self healing cyber-organic shielding grafted to my entire body. I’m bullet proof. You’re not. In about two minuets C-O reinforcements will arrive. Every one of them under my orders alone. They will kill every one of you. but you glitch you could join me and the other C-Os as we turn this world into a real paradise. Without humans.

GLITCH -but humans created you.

WILLIS –Simply because they are idiots and self-destructive.

GLITCH -I stand by my friends. You will not succeed and I will deactivate you.

WILLIS -oh really but I’m the one with the gun, and one hit to the right side of you’re A.I. unit and you won’t be waking back up.

GLITCH -you’re a dangerous machine I cannot let you live.

Willis’s smile disappears.

WILLIS -I’m not a machine. I’m better. I am perfect.

Willis fires the gun. Glitch ducks the bullet and flies past Willis to the computer unit.

Willis turns as Glitch plugs in to the computer.

WILLIS -you are too late Glitch.

The screen shows glitch’s personality.

GLITCH -no Willis I’m right on time. The screen counts down.

Willis lifts his gun. The clock says 5The C-Os burst into the room. The clock says 4. May stands up. The clock says 3. Willis smiles. The clock says 2.

WILLIS -Kill them all

The clock says one. May runs

MAY -no

May knocks the gun out of Willis’s hand. The C-Os drop their guns.

Willis looks at the C-Os

WILLIS -no! kill them. KILL THEM!

The C-Os look around and some start to pick up their guns.

Willis growls and knocks May aside.

GLITCH -May.

Glitch pulls the plug out. Willis runs at Glitch. Glitch steps aside at the last minuet.

WILLIS -NO!

Willis goes flying through the window. Glitch watches as he falls silently out of sight.  Glitch hurries to May’s side.

GLITCH -are you alright?

MAY -yah I’m fine. But Jackson.

They hurry over to where lance and Tina sit beside Jackson.

GLITCH -jacky! What’s wrong.

WILLIS -I’m not going to make it through this one.

GLITCH -you’re going to die. Jackson, you can’t die. Remember nothing can kill you.

JACKSON -listen you were a great friend. And you’ll always be human to me.

She coughs up blood and dies.

GLITCH -good bye.

LANCE -well we did it we saved the world.

Glitch looks at the confused C-Os.

GLITCH –And now you have a bunch of Frankensteins like me.

MAY -if they are like you. I’m not worried.

Glitch kisses her.

GLITCH -Thank you. You save my life, however short it is.

MAY -hey! any day.

She returns his kiss.

I  guess now our next mission is to let the world now what happened

Willis falls through the air.

And of course we’ll have to get them to accept C-Os as part of life,

Buildings rush past.

But at least the worst is over.

He grabs hold of a passing rail.

...and the truth lives on

He hangs suspended.

WILLIS -I will kill you. Glitch
